Live From Nicolet: Sheboygan North KM Wins Varsity Policy
September 29, 2007 – 10:43 pm by: BattermanThe Nicolet Debate Tournament came to a close on Saturday evening at around 8:30PM as Tournament Director Jason Chapman announced the champions. In the final round, Tim Knoedler and Laurel Mills of Sheboygan North debated Rauvin Johl and Val McIntosh of Brookfield Central. The panel of Tyler Jackson, Ben Schultz, and Bill Batterman voted unanimously for the negative from Sheboygan North.
Congratulations to Tim and Laurel and their coach, Jon Voss.

BTW: In the final round, Brookfield Central read their Early Warning satellites/disasters affirmative and Sheboygan North went for Chaloupka.
Thanks again to Jason for hosting — it was a lot of fun!
Best,

congrats, former team. I’m particularly impressed that you got all of the MUHS judges to agree. Let me guess, did Bill give his oral first?
btw - i love mike priem and mankato for making debate more regional and not stae constrained. he rocks.

Interesting note about Mankato; since Marquette conceded in Semis, Brookfield was left with nothing to do. Mike decided to ask Brookfield if they’d debate sort of a practice round with Mankato just for the sake of an extra round. Props to Val and Rauvin for debating an extra round when they didn’t have to and for the Mankato kids having such an enthusiasm for debate!
Thanks again to everyone who helped make the Nicolet tournament a success!
